Google, Facebook representatives summoned by Parliamentary panel over misuse of social media

Amid the ongoing tussle between the Indian government and micro-blogging platform Twitter, the representatives of tech giant Google and social media giant Facebook have been summoned by a standing committee of Parliament to discuss issues like safeguarding the rights of the citizens preventing the misuse of social media. The parliamentary committee is headed by senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
