Indian government sends 22,684 requests to Facebook, seeking user information

India became the second-largest country after the United States to request its citizens' information. The Indian government sent Facebook 22,684 legal and emergency requests for data in the first 6 months of the year. The requests were made to access information of 33,324 users and accounts. The social media giant said it provided 54% of the requested data to India. Legal requests are those that are accompanied by a search warrant.
