Indian scientists discover Giant Viruses in Water samples in Mumbai

Have you heard of Bandra Virus or Kurla Virus? IITB scientists have discovered over 20 types of new giant viruses in water samples from Mumbai, in a study conducted over the last 5 years. There is nothing to worry as these viruses are nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses that are non-disease causing viruses but of great interest to the scientific community. Bandra mega virus is so far the largest giant virus discovered in India.
