Just like Chandrayaan-2, the European Space agency had planned an unmanned moon mission to the South Pole in 2018 but called it off due to lack of funds. They prepared a report about the hazards & risks of landing in the South Pole which says- 'The surface of the South Pole is a complex environment where charged particles & radiation meet fine lunar dust & results can be unpredictable, hazardous.'
