NASA gears up for a giant leap in space travel with a mission to Mars, that brings in the question of nutrition a lot more difficult. A round trip journey of Mars might take up to 3 years, and so astronauts may have to grow their own food. NASA is working on space gardening in order to provide a fresh supplement to the astronauts on Mars. Their goal is to grow fresh produce to supplement packaged foods.
