Qualcomm slapped with $1.2 billion fine

Qualcomm has been slapped with a fine of $1.2 billion by the European Union for allegedly violating antivirus laws in a series of suspicious deals with Apple. EU started investigating this case in 2015. The US chipmaker has been accused of paying the iPhone-maker billions of dollars from 2011 to 2016 for an exclusive use of its 4G chips in the iPhone and iPad. The fine represents 4.9% of Qualcomm’s revenue in 2017.
