Reliance Jio steps into UPI-powered payments to compete with Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm

After enjoying some very successful years in the telecom industry, Reliance Jio has entered the UPI-powered payments space, offering the facility to its over 370 million subscribers. The Mukesh Ambani-led company would launch UPI payments feature to compete with leading players — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and several others. Jio will be the first among telecom operators to have enabled UPI payments service.
