Scientists just discovered that the moon is shrinking slowly over time, that causes wrinkles in its crust & moonquakes or lunar quakes. The moon is shrinking as its interior cools & as its surface is brittle, it breaks as the moon cools, forming thrust faults where one section of the crust is pushed up over a neighbouring part. Some of these quakes can be fairly strong around 5 on the Richter scale.
