Scientists from Cambridge University create the world's first living organism with fully synthetic & altered DNA code. They read & redesigned the bacteria of E.coli before creating cells with a synthetic version of the altered genome. The artificial genome has 4m basepairs, making it the largest genome that scientists have ever built. The bug is a little longer than normal, grows more slowly & is named as Syn61.
