Researchers released a worldwide map of 4,728 metagenomic samples from mass-transit networks in 60 cities in the journal Cell. More than 900 experts from across the world contributed data to the research. Cities have "unique microbial taxonomic fingerprints," according to the study, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles vary substantially in type and density, responsive to climatic and geographic variances.
