Today we know Mars to be a dry red surfaced planet but billions of years ago, it may have had large water bodies due to the presence of a thick atmosphere. Space scientists are using isotopes of oxygen to analyze how much atmosphere Mars has lost. NASA researchers say new observations by the space agency have found isotopes of oxygen can differ depending on the time of day & surface temperature of a neighboring planet.
