For their breakthrough in what could be defined as near impossible, 347 scientists that collaborated to produce the world's first image of a black hole, were honoured with the breakthrough prize in Fundamental Physics, which is known as the 'Oscar of Science' and won $3 million dollars. On April 10, the world was presented with a glimpse of the first image of the supermassive black hole, circled by a halo of white-hot plasma.
