Scientists saw a sliver of Arctic Ocean sea ice riddled with microplastics, extracted from deep inside an ice block that likely floated southward past Greenland into Canada. It looked like a hard candy with fake fruit or a 3rd grader's art project from recycled debris at first. The University of Rhode Island researchers found it during their 18-day expedition & they were shocked as they didn't expect this amount of plastic.
