California is a geologically-volatile region, but scientists discover that Southern California was hit by as many as 1.8 million tiny earthquakes between 2008 & 2017 than previously recorded. These were so small with a 0.3 magnitude that it was imperceptible on the surface. Experts couldn't find them as the equipment is not sensitive enough to detect these minute events & distinguish from background noise.
