Spain has joined a France-German joint project to build a next-generation fighter jet. The project aims to ensure Europe can defend itself without depending on allies. Dassault Aviation & Airbus is making the warplane which is believed to get operational from 2040. It will replace Dassault’s Rafale and Germany’s Eurofighter. The new combat jet’s engines will be made by France’s Safran and Germany’s MTU Aero Engines.
