The white streak left behind by an aeroplane that you see in the sky might seem fascinating but researchers suggest they are a major cause of global warming and their impact on climate will be tripled by 2050. A study found that due to increased air traffic activity, contrail-induced warming is expected to triple in 2050 than what it was in 2006. Contrails cause radiative forcing which leads to warming of the planet.
