Twitter defends monitoring service Dataminr after several accusations

Several people have accused Twitter of defying the rules of the surveillance ban to collect data using its monitoring service called Dataminr. However, Twitter has refuted all the claims while adding that it taps into the public tweets to alert the police and other governmental agencies about any possible civic unrest or protests. A spokesperson of Twitter said the firm prohibits the use of its services for surveillance purposes.
