A new brain-imaging study from Drexel University's Creativity Research Lab analyzed brain activity of jazz guitarists during improvisation countering earlier views. The aim was to show creativity is driven primarily by the right hemisphere in musicians who in general are comparatively inexperienced at improvisation. However, musicians who are highly experienced at improvisation rely mainly on their left hemisphere.
