Netflix is probably the most popular online streaming platform not only in India but across the world. The popularity of Netflix has increased at a very rapid pace in the past few years due to the high-quality content it offers to its viewers in various languages. It has almost replaced Television, especially for the Millenials. The online streaming platform has movies, series and documentaries from various shades of entertainment.
Netflix was founded in 1997 by American entrepreneurs Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph and it is headquartered in Los Gatos, California. However, the platform started offering an online subscription service through the internet. Subscribers chose movie and television titles from Netflix’s Web site; the shows were then mailed to customers in the form of DVDs, along with prepaid return envelopes, from one of more than 100 distribution centres. The popular platform then had thousands of movie titles in its catalogue.
It was in 2007 when Netflix began offering subscribers the option to stream some of its movies and television shows directly to their homes through the Internet. Moreover, the streaming service provided unlimited access at that time. It moved out of the US in 2010 for the first time to expand its services by providing the streaming service in 2010. The service reached the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavia in 2012. By 2016, Netflix expanded its services in more than 190 countries across the world. The company offered video content produced specifically for its streaming service for the first time in 2013 with the episodic drama series ‘House of Cards’. Netflix now offers various Bollywood movies and Hindi TV Series for its Indian viewers. Some of the most famous series include Stranger Things, Money Heist, The Punisher and Fauda.
