110-year-old Matheran toy train resumes full service

The 110-year-old Neral-Matheran toy train service finally resumed on Friday after a long gap. The train, covering entire 21 km distance, climbs up from Neral town to Matheran. It’s the nearest hill-station to Mumbai and is regarded as Asia's only vehicle-free zones, attracting so many tourists throughout the year. The train service on this route was closed since May 2016 due to a couple of derailments in that year.
