A Chinese government-backed team is set to summit Mount Everest to measure its height while the world's tallest peak remains closed to commercial climbers. Bad weather had forced the team to return to base camp, but they have now reached their previous position. Everest straddles the border of China and Nepal and both countries had closed spring climbing to stop coronavirus from spreading among expedition teams.
