Indian Railways to switch 1-litre water bottles with 500 ml in Shatabdi to counter wastage

In an attempt to reduce wastage of water onboard its premium Shatabdi trains, Indian Railways has decided to replace standard one-litre bottles with 500 ml Rail Neer bottles. The railways will now give 500 ml bottles to its passengers. The Railway Board issued an order that trains which have a maximum run time of around 8.5 hours will no longer be providing 1-litre bottles of water to passengers travelling for more than 5 hours.
