40 death penalty cases to be heard by Supreme Court from today

The Supreme Court will start hearing on 40 death penalty cases from today, it said in a circular dated September 1. As per the circular, the cases will be listed before three-judge benches starting September 7. The death penalty cases include the case of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohammad Arif alias Ashfaq, a convict in the 2000 Red Fort attack case. Three people, including two Army personnel, were killed in the attack.
