Mexico's Supreme Court removed the ban on recreational use of marijuana while directing the government to issue permits for the personal use of marijuana and for the growing of limited amounts of pot plants. The court had ruled in 2019 that prohibiting marijuana was unconstitutional. The country's lower house had approved a bill legalizing marijuana in the month of March but it was quashed by the Senate.
