"Can the state go beyond book?": SC to UP government on "name and shame" posters

The Supreme Court today heard the side of the Uttar Pradesh government after it moved the top court following the order of Allahabad High Court to take down the posters of the anti-CAA protestors in Lucknow, put up by the state. SC said there is no law to back the government's action. "The wrong-doer must be brought to book. But can the state go beyond that?" Justice UU Lalit said while questioning the power of the government.
