NASA renames Ultima Thule to Arrokoth after backlash over old name's Nazi connection

Ultima Thule, the farthest cosmic body ever visited by a spacecraft, has been officially renamed Arrokoth, or "sky" in the Native American Powhatan and Algonquian languages, after the old name sparked a controversy due to its Nazi connotations. NASA spaceship New Horizons visited it in January this year. The older name was used by far-right German occultists in the early 20th century to denote the "Aryan" people
