Controversial law giving more power to Delhi lieutenant governor over elected government comes into force

The controversial Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021, which provides the "Lieutenant Governor of Delhi" more power over the "Government of Delhi", has come into force. The Union Home Ministry notified that the act comes into force from April 27, 2021. The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government will now have to take the permission of the Lieutenant Governor before taking any executive action.
