The Laureus World Sports Awards 2020 saw the World Sportsman of the Year honour being shared for the first time. Footballer Lionel Messi and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton were named joint-winners. Sachin Tendulkar claimed the Laureus Sporting Moment Award (2000-2020). United States gymnast Simone Biles was named the World Sportswoman of the Year. South Africa's men's rugby team was termed the World Team of the Year.
