As many as 24 inmates were killed whereas 48 sustained injuries after a clash broke out between two gangs at a prison in the coastal city of Guayaquil in Ecuador. A joint operation was conducted by the police and the military to restore normalcy. The riots broke out at the Guayaquil Regional prison and went on for nearly 5 hours. A dispute between the “Los Lobos” and “Los Choneros” prison gangs led to the clash.
