Nirbhaya gangrape case: Pawan Gupta's mercy plea rejected by President Kovind

One of the four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case, Pawan Kumar Gupta's mercy plea has been rejected by the President of India, Ramnath Kovind. The convict had approached the President of India after his curative petition was rejected by the Supreme Court of India. Initially, the four convicts were to be hanged at 6 am on Tuesday at the Tihar Jail, but a Delhi court stayed the hanging.
