Over 1 lakh stolen mobile phones have the same IMEI number-MP Police

The MP Police said over 1 lakh mobile phones in India have the same IMEI number and around half of those were in MP. Investigations by MP Police have led to the arrest of 1 Jabalpur mobile shop owner and also revealed the existence of about 2 dozen other shops involved in the cloning of IMEI numbers. IMEI numbers are factory built and unique to each phone, making it possible to identify & track when lost or stolen.
