Uttar Pradesh accounts for 25% of crimes against Scheduled Castes

According to a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a fourth of the total cases of crimes against people from Scheduled Castes in 2019 were reported in Uttar Pradesh. As per the report, 94% of cases in which the victim belonged to a marginalised caste, were pending. 45,852 crimes were committed against people from the SC community in 2019 across the country. Uttar Pradesh reported the highest (11,829) cases.
