12,668 Gram Panchayat elections postponed in Maharashtra due to coronavirus crisis

Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif said a request was recently made to the State Election Commission through the State Government to postpone the elections of 12,668 Gram Panchayats proposed between July and December 2020, in the view of the novel coronavirus. Mushrif said it is likely that many people will gather in public places due to the elections adding that such crowds can be dangerous at such a time.
