Assam government to destroy 2,479 rhino horns

The Assam government has decided to destroy 2,479 rhino horns in order to bust myths about them that have led to poachings. The state treasuries have as many as 2,623 horns and 2,479 of them would be destroyed by putting them into the fire. The state government will preserve 94 rhino horns as heritage pieces for academic and exhibition purposes, while 50 rhino horns would be preserved for court cases.
