Forest officials said at least 1000 migratory birds spanning 13-15 species were found dead around Sambhar lake in Rajasthan over the past fortnight. They said-exact cause of the deaths will be known once their viscera sample reports come by the weekend. Sambhar Lake is India's largest inland salt lake & is a key wintering area for tens of thousands of birds. Locals & birders reported the 1st death of birds about a fortnight ago.
