CBI to probe Mahant Narendra Giri death case, takes over case from UP Police

Acting on the recommendation from the Uttar Pradesh government, the Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the Mahant Narendra Giri death case from the state police. An FIR has already been lodged by the CBI in connection with the case. The Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad chief was found dead in his room at Baghambari Gaddi Math on Monday. The preliminary autopsy revealed that the saint died of asphyxia due to hanging.
