The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to turn Leh and Kargil into smart cities. The government has already identified infrastructure projects for the districts. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is working to chart out a detailed plan for the development of smart cities. Several municipal committees, non-profit organisations, market associations and locals were consulted by the authorities.
