Christine Lagarde steps down from her post as IMF Chief, starting the race for her successor

Christine Lagarde quit from the global crisis lender IMF and submitted her resignation. She said she had more clarity about her nomination to be the next head of the European Central Bank. Her resignation comes 2 weeks after her nomination for the ECB top job. Her nomination is yet to obtain approval by the European Parliament. If approved, she would take over as ECB president from Mario Draghi.
