East Africa has been plagued by the worst invasion of desert locusts in 25 years and it poses an unprecedented threat to food security in the entire region, where near about 19 million people already have a high degree of food insecurity. In Kenya, it’s the worst invasion in 70 years. Invasions of desert locusts are not regular in the eastern belt as the last invasion happened in 2007 but on a relatively smaller scale.
