Foreign law firms cannot practice in India: SC

SC has denied the request to allow the foreign law firms to enter and practice law in India. Last year in January, the ministry of commerce and industry on January 3 amended a rule allowing foreign law firms to set up offices and advise clients from Indian SEZs. However, SC verdict says that the foreign lawyers can advise on 'fly in fly out' basis but it should be temporary.
