Forest Fires in world's largest tropical wetlands 'Pantanal' triple in 2020

According to Brazil's national space agency Inpe, the number of forest fires in Pantanal has tripled in 2020. Pantanal is the world's largest tropical wetlands and several species including jaguars, anteaters, etc live there. Inpe has identified 3682 fires from Jan 1 to July 23 in the region, which is a 201% rise as compared to 2019. The wetlands are situated across Brazil, Paraguay & Bolivia and are the most biodiverse areas in the world.
