Government grants more than ₹5,000 crore for Akash missile project

In order to boost Air Force's capability to defeat the enemy fighter aircraft, the government has now granted permission for the procurement of six squadrons of Akash air defence missile systems. This project is worth ₹5,000 and will be deployed on the borders of Pak and China. Earlier the order for Akash was for two squadrons which later increased to six. This was a three years old proposal system which was approved.
