ICMR study finds BCG vaccine effective in protecting elderly against Covid

A study conducted by the scientists at the Indian Council of Medical Research has found that Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, which is used for Tuberculosis treatment, offers protection from Covid to elderly people. “In an ongoing study, scientists at ICMR have found that the BCG vaccine induces increased memory cell responses and total antibody production in elderly,” ICMR said in a statement.
