According to a new World Bank report, India needs to invest $109 billion in road safety over the next decade to halve its road accidents. The report also mentioned that about 1.5 lakh people die every year in road accidents in India. Road accidents also affect economic growth, costing the economy between 3 to 5 percent of GDP a year. The number of road accidents in India are among the highest in the world.
