India recorded 3,74,397 deaths due to accidents in 2020: NCRB data

According to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau, India recorded as many as 3,74,397 deaths due to accidents in 2020. Road accidents accounted for 35 percent of these deaths. The number was still less than 4,21,104 accident-related deaths in 2019. The rate of 'accidental deaths' per lakh population also decreased from 31.4 in 2019 to 27.7 in 2020. 3,54,796 road accident cases were recorded in 2020.
