India reports over 20,000 coronavirus cases in 24 hours for the first time, over 60% recovery rate

India saw its highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases with 20,903 new cases being reported. The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in India has crossed 6.26 lakh. The death toll rose to 18,213 with 379 new fatalities on Thursday, the number of active cases stands at 2,27,439 while 3,79,892 people have recovered, according to Union Health Ministry data. The total number of samples tested up to July 2 is 92,97,749.
