Japanese students were replaced by avatar robots at graduation ceremonies

In Japan, spring graduation ceremonies got cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic, however, school students attended remotely by controlling avatar robots while logged on at home. The robots 'Newme' was developed by ANA Holdings and were dressed in graduation caps and gowns for the ceremony. The robot face were tablets that displayed the faces of the graduates, who controlled them via their laptops.
