Several areas in Japan are facing massive power cuts as Typhoon Haishen stormed the country accompanied by powerful winds and drenching rain. Nearly 1.8 million people were forced to evacuate and leave their homes. The storm was approaching the main southern island of Kyushu. The storm was carrying winds of up to 216 km per hour along with record rains and high tides. More than 500 flights remain cancelled.
