Massive drop in global tourism industry, lost $460 billion due to COVID-19 pandemic: UN

As per UNWTO, the huge drop in international travel during the first half of 2020 has led to a loss of 440 Mn international arrivals. The UN agency said the industry has lost nearly $460 billion in export revenues from international tourism; which is nearly 5 times the loss recorded in 2009 amid the global economic & financial crisis. Tourists fell by 65% during the first half of the year due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
