New species of snake found in Arunachal Pradesh, can sense heat
A new species of snake has been discovered in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district. The new species of reddish-brown pit viper, a venomous snake, is having a unique quality of sensing heat. A group of herpetologists led by Ashok Captain located the snake in a forest in West Kameng. Earlier India had just 4 brown pit vipers - Malabar, Horseshoe, Hump-nosed and Himalayan. More are to be discovered.
